DECATUR, IL - The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of Decatur and Macon County today announced the StarTek call center in Decatur, will more than double its employees as a result of expanded work for one of the company's largest US telecommunications clients. The addition of approximately 300 new employees will take the facility's workforce from 270 to nearly 600. "The wireless customer care experience we deliver was a major factor in securing this additional work," said Shauna Hall, StarTek's Decatur site director. "The client selected StarTek for its high performance and its top-vendor status with previous clients."  The EDC first announced StarTek's plans to locate in Decatur in 2002, and the company opened its Decatur facility in 2003 with the help of incentives from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity The impact of this current expansion is anticipated to be felt by the community as soon as September, which is the date the client is expected to begin using StarTek's business process outsourcing services.
