G & D Integrated Announces Facility Expansion and Jobs Decatur, IL –The Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County (EDC) announced today that G & D Integrated is expanding their current Decatur facility to accommodate additional logistic and material supply chain processes. With this announcement, G & D Integrated will invest more than $5 million dollars in the project, retain 245 jobs and create 80 new jobs in Decatur. “I applaud the announcement by G & D Integrated to expand their facility and workforce in Decatur. Once again, it illustrates that Decatur is a great place to do business,” said Decatur Mayor Paul Osborne. Charles Purcell, Vice President of Marketing for G&D Integrated, said, “Everyone at G&D is excited about the opportunity to continue to expand our business in Decatur. I want to personally thank the staff of the Economic Development Corporation as well as the Mayor, administration and staff of the city of Decatur who all worked to make this a viable opportunity for our company. We value and appreciate this relationship and look forward to continuing this partnership into the future. “ The $5 million dollar expansion project will be supported through Construction Materials Sales Tax Exemptions and Property Tax Abatement through the Decatur Macon County Enterprise Zone. Administered by the EDC of Decatur and Macon County, the Enterprise Zone offers a variety of state and local tax incentives to promote job development and investment in the region. “The expansion of G & D Integrated helps to build upon Decatur’s growing logistics and distribution industry and creates more good paying jobs in Decatur,” said Craig Coil, President, EDC of Decatur and Macon County. “We are pleased to assist yet another local company as they expand to meet the growing demands for local products and services”. G & D Integrated began operations in Decatur in 1989 with 11 people, 23,000 square feet of distribution space and a dedicated transportation fleet. Today, the company occupies 170,000 square feet and employs 270 people. G & D’s business continues to grow, requiring an addition of 110,000 square feet to their existing Macon County facility. G & D Integrated emerged in 1984 as a small trucking outfit servicing the Peoria region. Since then, it has grown and evolved with the changing markets and demand. As companies adopted new principles, such as lean manufacturing and just-in-time delivery, G & D emerged as a Midwest leader in world-wide supply chain logistics. Currently G & D is made up of three major divisions. The Transportation division is comprised of a fleet of 500 power units and services the Midwest and Southeast. The Distribution division currently has three main facilities and process more than 10 million pounds of freight per day. The Manufacturing Logistics division consists of 1.2 million square feet and supports on-site material handling functions, logistics planning and support, and sub-assembly for heavy equipment manufactures. In total, G & D Integrated employs 1,800 people and operates 23 facilities in the Midwest and Southeast. The Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County is a nonprofit public-private partnership responsible for non-retail business attraction, expansion and retention efforts in Decatur and Macon County. In the last two years alone, the EDC has worked with local, state and federal partners to access nearly $25 million in assistance to local employers. The EDC has also facilitated projects which have resulted in the creation and/or retention of over 2,200 jobs and private sector capital investments of more than $50 million. These efforts have resulted in the Decatur MSA seeing one of the largest two year decreases in unemployment of any metro area in the state. |
