Illinois Development Council Announces Craig Coil as its new Vice Chairman and Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee The Illinois Development Council (IDC), the state’s professional organization for economic developers, announced Craig Coil as its new Vice Chairman and Chairman-elect at its board meeting on January 7, 2005. It also announced his appointment to Chair the IDC Legislative Committee for 2005 where he will work with Illinois lawmakers to support legislation to expand business and economic interests statewide. As Vice Chairman and Chairman-Elect, Craig will assist the organization in the development of policies to improve the overall economic climate in Illinois.
“As the President of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County, Craig brings a strong understanding of the needs of economic developers in Central Illinois”, stated IDC Chairwoman, Cheryl Welge of Ameren.
“Craig brings years of experience to this position and the energy to lift the organization to new levels of policy and legislative development”, said Welge. “His leadership and policy expertise will provide the Board with the skills they need to create a strong presence for economic developers statewide.”
Prior to becoming President of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County, Craig led the Business Development Division of the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs (DCCA) for the State of Illinois. In his role at DCCA, Craig worked with economic developers and site selection professionals to bring new jobs to the State of Illinois through business attraction, expansion and retention projects.
Under Coil’s leadership as President of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County, the community has experienced the largest decline in unemployment rates in downstate Illinois in 2004, new job growth through the attraction of StarTek, and the expansion of many area businesses including: Decatur Memorial Hospital, ADM, Caterpillar, DemirCo, McCleod Express, and others. |
